Blokzijl is a town with a rich history. In the Golden Age, Blokzijl was a thriving center of commerce on the Zuyder Zee. The period was marked by the constant coming and going of ships and it was during this time that the town's merchants gave Blokzijl its characteristic city scape. The 17th century church, the first protestant church in Holland, is well worth a visit.
Deventer, as we know it today, is a dynamic town, firmly rooted in history and surrounded by a unique landscape. Deventer has its "Cake"! For over 400 years now the city enjoys international fame because of the high quality of the gingerbread. Deventer is observed as one of the oldest cities of our country. You do have to persevere (the tower has 220 steps) but the reward will be to see a beautiful Hanseatic city along the river IJssel from a height of 66 yards. Just look around in the monumental Bergkwartier (Berg Quarter).

Giethorn. Characteristic canals, high and narrow bridges, little farmhouses with thatched roofs, punts instead of cars, these are the features that make Giethoorn - the Venice of the North - one of the most visually striking villages in Holland. Giethoorn is not to be missed, and the best way to view it is by boat tour or punt. These can be hired at the waterside by the car-parking areas. You can tie up your punt at any of the three museums

Not too far away you will find the lovely historical villages of Vollenhove, Blokzijl, Wanneperveen as well as National Park De Weerribben
Staphorst. Walk around in the village of Staphorst, nearly 7.5 miles long, with a highly religious culture and history of its own. The farmhouses are decorated in unique color schemes, and traditional costumes are still worn daily by the elderly people, not to please the tourists but simply because that's what they wear. Photography is accordingly frowned upon unless permission is obtained first, and is not allowed at all on Sundays.
Visit the Gemeentelijke Museumboerderij (Municipal Museum Farm) where you can sample the atmosphere of former days. The farm showcases an authentic living area with tiled walls. There is a loom on which they made the traditional costumes of Staphorst until 1990. During the summer, these costumes will be shown
