Only 20 minutes from Amsterdam, on the borders of the IJsselmeer, you find the splendid former isle of Marken. The preserved village is UNESCO nominated for its old harbour, narrow streets, small bridges and colourful costumes. The IJsselmeer waters with the lighthouse and the clustered wooden houses ahead of you, give you that feeling of being away from it all ! We bring you to hotel Hof van Holland in Marken. You stay there for example for 3 nights, including breakfast.

Boattrip to Volendam.
From the harbour a boattrip with the Marken Express takes you across the splendid Gouwzee to the village of Volendam. Here you can visit the famous dyke and have your picture taken in Volendam costume. But there is also the Volendam Museum with its wonderful cigarbandroom that brings you back to the past, the area and the St. Vincentius church.

Botter Sailing Trip.

Sailing program over the IJsselmeer / Gouwzee on a unique restored original fishing boat (Marken Botter). For large groups a game during a botter matchrace is most certainly a guaranteed success as teambuilding activity ! The suggested time schedule can be changed upon request. The event can be concluded with an overnight stay in one of our nostalgic hotel rooms ! Prices are depending on the program chosen.

Exclusive Guided Tours.
An exclusive tour of the historical village of Marken, guided by a guide in traditional costume, who takes you to all the most interesting spots in Marken, and who tells you details and stories you cant find in any guide book.

Cycling. Discover the breathtaking Dutch landscape of Marken and the rural environment of Waterland by bike ! Ride out into the vicinity, with charming villages like Durgerdam, Uitdam, Zuiderwoude, Broek in Waterland, all situated nearby. A successful day is guaranteed !

Walking. A promenade over the famous Zuiderzeepad (LAW8) a dyke around the island with only the wind in your hair, and nothing but the sound of the waves, the seagulls and the sheep breaking the silence. You come to peace in the protected peat-meadow area bordering the Markermeer with its numerous ditches and waterstreams. This satisfying walking tour ends at the restaurant or terrace of Hof van Marken where you can enjoy delicious refreshments.
